There are two plan options available, and each employee can select the plan that best suits the employee's needs. Coverage is provided through CIGNA HealthCare and the employee pays a portion of the premiums through pre-tax payroll deductions. Each employee will have the choice of insuring themselves and dependents. Participation in this plan begins the first of the month after an employee has completed 90 days of employment with Salem.
Two plans are available, and each employee can select the plan that best suits their dental needs.
The coverage is provided by Assurant Employee Benefits and will be paid for by employees, through the convenience of payroll deduction. Each employee will have the choice of insuring themselves and/or dependents and may use the services of any dentist of choice. Please note that orthodontics is not covered by this plan. A vision discount through VSP—which offers discounts on eye exams and glasses—is attached with the dental plan.

Salem provides all full-time employees and immediate family members with company-paid life insurance coverage through Reliance Standard Life Insurance. Participation in this plan begins the first of the month after employees have completed 90 days of employment with Salem.
- Employee: Two times base annual salary (employee) with limits
- Spouse: $5,000
- Children: $500 (age 14 days to 6 months), $2,500 (6 months to 20 yrs. old (students up until age 26)
In addition to the company-paid Life insurance, Salem also offers all full-time employees optional supplemental life insurance coverage through Assurant Employee Benefits, paid by the employee through payroll deduction. Rates are based on age. Family coverage is also available. Participation in this plan begins the first of the month after employees have completed 60 days of employment with Salem.
Employees are provided the opportunity to participate in a voluntary Short-Term Disability (STD) program. With this program, employees can choose the level of coverage that best meets individual needs based on age and salary. This benefit pays a percentage of the employee's salary on a weekly basis.
Salem offers Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage, should a disability continue for (6) months or longer. This coverage is provided at no cost to the employee.
Salem observes seven (7) days during the calendar year as official company holidays for full-time employees. The observed holidays are New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the employee's birthday. For drivers that are normally paid on the mileage rate, holiday pay will be according to their hourly rate of pay.
Vacation time is an opportunity for employees to take time out of the work schedule to rest and relax. Vacation time is earned, granted, and paid based on prior continuous service. Only full time employees are eligible.
Vacation is earned according to the following schedule:
- After 1 year employment => 1 week of vacation
- After 2 years employment => 2 weeks of vacation
- After 7 years employment => 3 weeks of vacation
Salem offers employees an opportunity to invest in their future through a 401(k) retirement plan. Employees may contribute 1% to 50% of eligible compensation. The Company offers a 50% match for employee contributions up to 4% of the employee’s contribution. Employees are eligible after six months of consecutive employment.
For convenience, employees may have checks directly deposited in to an account at a bank of choice. This is particularly good for employees who are not able to return to their home terminal on a consistent basis or do not want to go to the bank to deposit their check.
Salem’s customer base has different transportation needs, which allows drivers to have flexibility in route selection. This selection can vary from being home each night to over-the-road cross country. Options are as follows:
